Disinfectant wipes have been bought in mass for weeks as everyone tries to keep their homes and possessions clean of COVID-19.
Using the wipes is fine, how the wipes are being disposed is causing problems.
DO NOT FLUSH disinfectant wipes (or baby wipes or personal wipes) down the toilet. This is happening so often that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a warning deterring Americans from flushing the wipes.
Only toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet and that disinfectant wipes and "non-flushable" items must be tossed into the trash, or place inside a tightly sealed bag and then put into the gray-top trash cart.
