This is a picture of an automatic fire hydrant flushing device. Where is it, and what does it do?
The Township Sewer & Water Field Operations Division is using these to improve the water quality in the water distribution system. After these devices are attached to a hydrant, the hydrant is turned full on. There is a timer inside which will open and close a valve to flush the water at set intervals.
