Cranberry Township, Jackson Township, Zelienople Borough, and Harmony Borough have launched the Southwest Butler County Multi-Municipal Safety Action Plan — a coordinated effort to reduce traffic-related crashes and create safer roadways for all.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, the plan focuses on strategic infrastructure improvements, policy and systems changes, and safety education. Developed in collaboration with municipal leaders, stakeholders, and community members, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to addressing local transportation challenges using a data-driven and equitable approach.

The Safety Action Plan includes two core strategies:

  • Multi-Municipal Action Strategy – Policy recommendations and systems-based improvements to advance safety across jurisdictions.
  • High Injury Network Strategy – Location-specific analysis and solutions for areas with the highest rates of severe crashes.

Community input is critical to shaping the plan’s priorities and identifying key areas for improvement. Residents, commuters, and visitors are encouraged to participate through a variety of engagement tools:

  • Take the Transportation Safety Survey
  • Pin concerns on the Interactive Map
  • Submit a Comment or Question
  • Download the Communications Toolkit to help spread the word
