[ARCHIVED] Kids Club Expansion Offers Help to Working Families

Cooped Up Cranberry- Activities & resource links for adults and children during the COVID-19 crisis

The Township’s popular Kids Club Before and After School program is expanding to help families navigate new school protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kids Club PLUS will offer child supervision for students in kindergarten through sixth grade from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each weekday. Operated by the Township’s Parks and Recreation Department, the program offers a learning environment that lets students work on and complete virtual assignments with full IT support. It also offers access to the Cranberry Public Library, as well as structured activity and leisure time.

Registration for Kids Club PLUS opens to Cranberry Township Residents on Thurs., August 20. The program opens to non-residents beginning Wed. August 26. Residents can still register at this time.

Registration closes at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 28 to allow time for SVSD Transportation to process request forms.

At the time of registration, payment will be due for September. A monthly Tuition Payment Plan will be set up for remainder of the school year

Kids Club PLUS is comprised of three separate sections:

  • Before School (6:30-8:00 a.m.) – This option is for students whose parents need an early drop-off time. Students will stay in the Municipal Center until they are picked up by a school bus.
  • Kids Club PLUS (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) – This full-day option includes schoolwork time, activities, crafts and gym/exercise time.
  • After School Program (4:30-6:00 p.m.) – Similar to the Before School program, this option allows for working families to take advantage of a later pick-up time. Students are dropped off at the Municipal Center, where they remain until picked up by a parent or guardian.

Those enrolling in the Kids Club PLUS program have access to both the Before and After School programs. Individual registration is available for the Before and/or After School programs. However, preference for those programs will be given to those participating in Kids Club PLUS.

Protocols are in place to ensure safety of both students and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. A full explanation of those protocols can be found on the Kids Club webpage.

With this program expansion, the Parks and Recreation Department is seeking Kids Club Attendants to work shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is responsible for providing a safe, fun environment; assisting with activities, crafts and games with enthusiasm and age appropriate instruction; providing feedback to parents about child’s behavior; as well as other duties as assigned. Candidates must be at least 15 years old, and experience in working with children preferred.

To register, please visit the Parks & Recreation Customer Service Desk in the Municipal Center or contact the Parks and Recreation Customer Service Team at 724-779-4FUN (4386).
