The intersection of Routes 19, 228 and Freedom Road is the busiest in Western Pennsylvania, with as many as 100,000 vehicles a day passing through. The great majority of those vehicles are completely legitimate, but a few are either stolen, or belong to fugitives, or in some other way are out of compliance with state law. Even though Cranberry is in Butler County, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office has offered the funds to install license plate reading cameras at the intersection to assist in in county DA’s law enforcement efforts. At its January 7 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved the camera system’s installation.
