Cranberry is attractive for lots of good reasons. But its proximity to major highways, together with its hotels, restaurants and retail establishments, have also made it a magnet for traffic in stolen vehicles from all over the Tri-state area. As a result, it is an ideal location for posting law enforcement officers specializing in auto theft. At its March 2 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors authorized the advertisement of an ordinance approving an agreement with the State Police to fully fund the hiring of a new municipal police officer with extensive training and experience in vehicle thefts. The Board will consider final adoption of the ordinance at its March 30 meeting. For more information, contact police chief Kevin Meyer at kevin.meyer@CranberryTownship.org.
