A series of recommendations from a 2016 Fire Company strategic plan are currently being advanced between the volunteer organization and the Township. The status of the recommendations, which concerned organizational structure and incident response standards, as well as membership issues and educational outreach activities, were presented to Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors on February 2. As in each recent year, the volume of alarms responded to by the Company reached another all-time high as did the time spent on fire prevention activities. Altogether, Company members logged more than 24,000 volunteer hours during 2016. Cranberry Township and the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company are legally separate entities, but an agreement between them provides taxpayer financial support for the fire company which currently includes 43 active firefighters.
