The tentative plan for a Laurel Communities housing development along Franklin Road was presented for public comment at the January 26 meeting of Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors. Laurel Communities describes itself as a developer of luxury neighborhoods in Pittsburgh's premier locations marked by attention to detail and innovative design. Other projects by the company include housing in Lawrenceville, Bakery Square, Ross and Pine Township. The Cranberry plan, called Laurel Point, would have two phases. Three different types of housing are visualized including large estate homes, mid-size family homes, and compact villas, each of which would be surrounded by land owned and maintained by the company. Other details of the PRD include a trail system, multiple parklets and pedestrian pockets, streetscape enhancements, and a new left turn lane on Franklin Road. After hearing the presentation, the Board agreed to continue the public hearing at its February 23 meeting for additional information about an associated sanitary sewer pump station.
