Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, when PennDOT’s Crows Run highway proposal was under active consideration, Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. did a study of the Freedom Road corridor to illustrate Cranberry’s vision of an urban boulevard for that essential artery. Since then, a number of changes have taken place on the ground including rights of way acquisitions, selective widenings and intersection improvements. At its November 3 meeting, meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors authorized HRG to update their earlier engineering study accordingly. The revised documents are to reflect rights of way, earthwork, sidewalk, drainage, signal modification and construction cost estimates for upgrading Freedom Road as it is currently configured. A contract fee of $19,500 was approved for the study, which is to be completed by year’s end.
