Cranberry’s streetscape enhancement ordinance, initially adopted in 2009 and then expanded in its coverage area several times over the following years, is on the cusp of yet another expansion. The zoning ordinance stipulates, as a condition of Township land development approval, that commercial and institutional construction along designated roads in the Township provide for the developer’s choice of aesthetic improvements from a menu of possibilities. Among them: landscaping, brick pillars, wrought iron fencing, masonry walls, streetlights, sidewalks, trees and benches. At its July 28 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors authorized advertising a public hearing for Thursday, September 29 to be focused on the addition of several more streets and street segments under the Township’s ordinance, technically known as the Streetscape Enhancement Overlay District. Those new streets include portions of Glen Eden, Ogle View, Dutilh, North Boundary, Cranberry Square, Brandt and Thomson Park Drive.
