Developers of a new six-story, 101 room Best Western Plus hotel have applied for conditional use and land development approval to build the 68,000 square foot structure on a 2-acre site adjacent to the Cranberry Springs and Cranberry Crossroads commercial developments. If approved, the proposed building would be the first project of its scale to employ an enhanced stormwater management system using pervious pavers to allow stormwater to be absorbed into the ground without the use of detention ponds or stormwater tanks. Following public testimony at its April 28 meeting, during which a representative speaking on behalf of Cranberry Springs owner Gary Sippel objected to the proposed plan’s apparent retaining wall and pipeline incursions onto the Sippel property, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors agreed to consider acting on the applications at its May 5 meeting.
