Some form of traffic control has become essential to managing the steady growth in traffic volume at the intersection of North Boundary and Marshall Roads, Township Engineering Director Jason Kratsas told Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors at its March 31 meeting. The current volume of traffic at that location averages 6,500 vehicles daily. A roundabout, as distinct from a traffic signal, was determined to be the preferred solution. In addition to keeping traffic moving, the roundabout would also slow speeds at the intersection which frequently sees vehicles along North Boundary well in excess of the posted 35 miles an hour. The roundabout, which the Board approved for construction this year, will become an integral part of a pedestrian and bicycle corridor along the North Boundary collector road that will eventually extend from Rt. 19 to Franklin Road. The project will be entirely funded by developers’ impact fees. For more information, Jason Kratsas, Director, Engineering
