Picnic-goers to Cranberry’s public parks may soon be allowed to bring along their favorite alcoholic beverages, providing a proposed revision to the current ordinance is approved. Currently, the Township Code of Ordinances bans alcoholic beverages in Township parks. However, if a revised version to the Code is adopted by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors on April 28, possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages would be allowed in designated park locations with a Township-issued permit, consistent with state laws. No glass bottles or containers could be used. A motion to advertise its intent to revise the ordinance was adopted by the Board at its March 31 meeting. Once enacted, Township staff will be directed to draft procedures for issuing alcoholic beverage permits.
