Cranberry has always exercised discipline in its operational spending, but its capital spending process is now becoming more formalized, consistent with the Township’s 2009 comprehensive plan. At its March 31 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors heard a staff presentation about steps being taken to create a comprehensive five-year capital spending plan that not only encompasses its core functions – police, public works, code compliance and administration – but also its enterprise functions including Cranberry Highlands, municipal water and sewer service, and solid waste collection. Altogether, the plan, which will be subject to annual revision and updates as needed, will include information on hundreds of projects, their justification, timing, review status and projected costs. In a companion move, the Board approved a request to transfer unspent 2015 revenues into its 2016 capital budget. For more information, contact Duane McKee, Assistant Township Manager
