In 1989, under the authority of a newly enacted state law, Cranberry began collecting fees from developers to help finance road improvements designed to offset the increased traffic generated by those new developments. A prioritized list of candidate projects was generated and, as the improvements it identified were completed, the list was revised. At its April 30 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors prepared to give their seal of approval to the list’s most recent update, with final action slated for May 6. Among the projects to be included in the revised list is a series of much-needed improvements at the intersection of Ogle View Road and Rt. 19 – a project which had initially been visualized and approved as part of the Promenade retail plaza, before that development fell through. Over the past 25 years, Cranberry has used its impact fees to leverage $56 million in matching funds. For more information, contact Jason Kratsas, Cranberry’s Director of Engineering Jason.Kratsas.
