The memory of St. Kilian, a 7th century Irish bishop whose mission to Bavaria ended up costing his life, will be honored with a new parish church on the 30-acre campus of the grade school, which already carries his name, at Franklin Road and Route 228. The school’s gymnasium is currently being used as a venue for weekly worship services. At its April 2 meeting, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors approved a revision to the plan which was first approved in 2003. The second phase of the original plan included the new church structure along with a maintenance building and house previously built on the site which would serve as a rectory. The revised plan required the Board’s conditional use approval because of minor modifications to the church building’s design.
