No door-to-door sales or solicitation are allowed in Cranberry without a permit, as stipulated by Township ordinance. Current solicitation permits are valid for residential properties only, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. No soliciting is permitted on Sundays, state recognized holidays, or on any private property posted with no-solicitation signs. At its February 26 meeting, in response to protests that the early curfew violated the First Amendment rights of solicitors, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors considered authorizing the advertising of an amendment which would extend the time solicitation is allowed by two hours, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. However, following discussion, the Board modified the proposed amendment to extend the cutoff time by one hour, to 8:00 PM. The Board will consider adopting the revised ordinance at its March 6 meeting. The current procedure for obtaining a soliciting license requires a photo ID, disclosure of business information, and a fee of $10 per day.
