For
years, the front lawn of Doyle Equipment Company’s 16.5 acre site at theintersection of Dutilh and Rt. 19 had been used to showcase heavy construction
equipment. But now it’s gone. Its buildings have been demolished and therubble moved offsite. In their place,
the owner, David Smail, approached the Township seeking approval for creating aneighborhood shopping center. At its
meeting on May 3, Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors gave a thumbs up to theproject’s preliminary land development and conditional use applications. Although no lease agreements are currently in
place for the store spaces, the plan presented would include 81,600 square feetof retail space, plus an 8,050 square foot restaurant and a 2,800 square foot
bank with a drive-thru window. Theshopping plaza would also connect via American Way with the adjacent Home Depot
site – which Smail also owns – as well as with The Streets of Cranberryshopping center.
