After accepting testimony on March 31, an application for Conditional Use of a 3.5 acre site on Dutilh Road next to the Cloverleaf Commons office building for a two-story fitness center was given a go-ahead by Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors. The facility, which would enclose nearly 28,000 square feet for its cardio, strength, tanning, massage and other services, is part of a fast-growing chain of fitness centers which currently includes more than 1,000 operations in 47 states, Canadian provinces, and Caribbean locations. Planet Fitness, offers memberships as low as $10 a month and promotes what it calls its Judgment-Free Zone. The chain, which was started in 1992, was recently honored by trade magazine Franchise Times for being at the top of its “Fast & Serious” list of smartest- growing franchise brands.
