[ARCHIVED] Grading permit approved for Mars Road development

Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors has approved an application to begin grading operations on the 32.4 acres of undeveloped land at the northeast corner of Rt. 228 and I-79. Grading permits, which carry fewer requirements than final land development plans, are typically issued at an early stage of major development projects. In the case of Cranberry Springs, as owner Gary Sippel has named the project, only preliminary land development plans have been shared so far with the Township’s Planning Advisory Commission. The proposed plans are projected to involve as much as a million square feet of building floor space including a new UPMC-Penguins training facility. Much of the initial grading will be to clean up the site following PennDOT’s I-79 ramp construction project. A separate application for approval of the detailed land development plan is expected at a later time.
