Every year, Township residents and veterans gather the Sunday before Memorial Day to honor and remember the sacrifice made by those who served their country.
Though this year’s event cannot take place as usual, the Township is planning a virtual service to ensure the tradition continues.
An online Memorial Day service is planned for 1p.m. Sunday, May 24, with a video service posting on the Township’s social media feeds and website.
The video will feature the keystone elements of the annual event, including the National Anthem, guest speakers, the release of doves, a 21-gun salute and the ringing of bells in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
A production of the Cranberry Township VFW Post 879, along with the Township’s Parks and Recreation and Communications departments, the video serves to make sure those who defend our freedom are remembered and honored no matter the setting.
