Per PennDOT, Freedom Road will be closed from Executive Drive to Commonwealth Drive beginning at 10 PM, Friday, November 15. The road will re-open at 6 AM, Monday, November 18, weather permitting. Freedom Road will be open to the intersections of Commonwealth Drive and Executive Drive and closed between those intersections on Freedom Road.
The detour eastbound on Freedom Road will have motorists turn right onto Commonwealth Drive to Thornhill Road, then go northbound on Route 19 to Freedom Road.
Motorists westbound on Freedom Road will turn right onto Executive Drive, turn right onto Cranberry Square Drive then go southbound onto Route 19 to Thornhill Road to Commonwealth Drive, back to Freedom Road.
Delays are anticipated, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. The Township will provide police assistance during these closures.
During the closure, crews from Beech Construction Inc. of Carnegie will replace two cross pipes under Freedom Road and install new drainage systems. Traffic and roadway signals will be replaced, and lighting improved.
The overall project aims to replace the existing bridge over Interstate 76 with a two-span, six-lane bridge. The bridge will also have sidewalks.
