Woodlawn Road – an old, winding, low-volume road in the eastern part of Cranberry – is about to get a makeover. In hearings prior to the approval of Forest Edge – a new planned housing development that fronts along Woodlawn at its intersection with Hope Road – the Township’s Board of Supervisors heard testimony from nearby Windwood Heights residents complaining that the condition of Woodlawn would only worsen with the addition of Forest Edge traffic. Accordingly, the Township, in partnership with Forest Edge developer Singer Corporation, will be making a number of improvements this summer beginning with drainage, followed by realignment, grade changes, improved sight lines, fixing curve issues, straightening out its intersection, and adding pedestrian access. All of the work is expected to be completed by September but, according to Township Engineering Director Jason Kratsas, not all of it can be done under traffic conditions. As a result, the affected segment of roadway will need to be closed for several weeks later this summer to facilitate the work. For more information, Jason Kratsas, Director, Engineering
