  6. The Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel Disaster

    September 22, 2021, 6:30 PM @ Franklin Station North

    Co-hosted by the Cranberry Library and the Cranberry Genealogy Club: On Christmas Eve 1917, an overcrowded, out-of-control streetcar exited the Mount Washington tunnel, crashing into pedestrians. Twenty-three were killed and more than eighty injured in the worst transit incident in Pittsburgh history. The crash scene on Carson Street was chaotic as physicians turned the railway offices into a makeshift hospital and bystanders frantically sought to remove the injured and strewn bodies from the wreckage.

    Mobility Yoga Flow (MoYo Flow) - This class will not be a traditional Vinyasa Yoga Flow. This Yoga Flow will be a slower mobility-based flow incorporating mobility and Pilates sequences (meaning you will not be moving quickly from pose to pose. You will be moving mindfully and through full range of motion. This means everyone will look different. We've all been through different life experiences and this class will take that into consideration). Anyone can do this class, but you will be getting a totally different experience than any other person. This is a great class for anyone who is just not sure of what is going on with their body lately! You will get to know your body and what it can do and when it may need a different variation of a movement to increase mobility. Please bring a mat and 2 blocks if you have them (I will also bring some). A pad or blanket for your knees may be helpful.
