Cranberry Township wants door to door sales of commodities, goods, and services to be a positive experience for both Licensees and Residents. Persons or companies wishing to sell goods door-to-door are required to apply for a license pursuant to Section 13-201 and 13-202 of the Code of Ordinances.
The Township provides a DO NOT KNOCK or “DNK” online registration for the benefit of its residents who desire to be free from door-to-door sales at their home otherwise permitted under Chapter 13, Part 2 of the Township Code of Ordinances.
The ability of a business to engage in a commercial transaction with our residents is generally protected commercial speech, and the Township intends only to impose the minimum requirements necessary to protect the health, welfare, safety and solitude of the Township residents. Nothing in this process is meant to interfere with constitutionally protected rights.
As defined in the Township Code of Ordinances, peddling and soliciting activities include: a person, firm, corporation or association that obtains a license to sell or offer for sale any goods, commodity, or service, or to solicit funds or donations of any kind by going from house to house for such purposes.
