This year is the 40th Anniversary of CTCC, which was created during America’s bicentennial year.  So we’re celebrating by announcing our 2017 Project of the Year: The CTCC SportCourts at Graham Park.

The SportCourts will be located near the entrance of Graham Park and will be the first recreational space in view entering the park.  It will include areas for different court games, many the first of their kind in Cranberry, along with a community garden.
The exact number of courts will be determined by the amount of money raised for each particular sport.  Our current plans call for eight pickleball courts, four tennis courts, two basketball courts, three bocce courts, two shuffleboard courts, two horseshoe courts and two cornhole courts.  It will be the largest Project of the Year ever undertaken by CTCC, with an estimated budget of $750,000.

At the same time, Cranberry Township is announcing Phase 2 of Graham Park.  It will combine perfectly with CTCC’s Project of the Year, transforming the park into a world-class sporting facility.  The Township’s portion of the project will include planning, project management, excavation, utility installation, building a new restroom, and putting in additional handicap parking.

For this project, the burden of fundraising for the different activity areas will depend on those who really want those activities.
For example, there are a lot of pickleball enthusiasts who want to see pickleball courts in the Township. But the number built will depend on how much money is raised.  It will be the same for all the other courts.  If CTCC finds there is a stronger interest in bocce than tennis in terms of money raised, then more bocce courts and fewer tennis courts will come to fruition.

CTCC will be looking for people and organizations that want to lead fundraising for their chosen sport to ensure their favorite courts have sufficient funding.  At this point, CTCC is not looking for individuals to offer design suggestions; but rather individuals to raise money for their specific sport court.  Naming rights for the individual sport area and specific courts will be available.

CTCC’s fundraising for the SportCourts and garden will officially kick off during CTCC Community Days, July 7-9.  That event itself is expected to generate approximately $100,000 toward the goal.  Then this fall, a communitywide effort, patterned after our prior projects, will begin.

Individuals interested in becoming Ambassadors to help raise awareness about the project are welcome to contact CTCC by calling 724-776-4806 x 1103.  CTCC is in need of assistance in preparing and distributing materials, visiting potential donors, writing grants and neighborhood-based fundraising.  Fun-Fore-All will donate $1 for every weekday round of miniature golf from the start of Community Days through the end of August.
