Tips to keep your home safe:
Avoid displaying packages where they can be seen from a window or doorway.
Leave lights on inside the residence when leaving home, even if for only a short time.
Arrange to have packages delivered to a neighbor if you're not home to receive them.
Packages left on doorsteps draw unwanted attention to your home and are easy pickings for thieves.
Holiday decorations shouldn’t obscure the view from your windows. Try to maintain a clear view of your property.
Always lock your doors and windows, even if you're only gone for a few minutes.
Often criminals will spot something you've discarded and can target you for their next burglary or theft. Compact or dispose of packaging discreetly.
When leaving town, have a trusted friend or neighbor take care of your home. Never cancel general deliveries such as mail, newspapers, and other services when leaving town or going on vacation.
Notify the Cranberry Township Police Department if you plan an extended absence. We can issue a vacation watch or directed patrol for your home. Call 724-776-5180, ext. 5.
Report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood by calling 911.
Please share these tips with friends and neighbors.
